Catnip

I have to separate Mica and Jean-Claude when I bring in the catnip because my greedy little boy eats, inhales it.  Then he goes after hers.  She has to chew the leaf all around the edges, tasting it thoroughly before she actually swallows it, and he will steal it right out of her mouth.  I only find one plant growing right now, hidden amid the lemon balm.  They look quite abit alike, so I am hoping there is more out there.  The irises are blooming, and getting ready to get beat up tonight in the storm that's coming.  Maybe I should go cut some down.

Sassy back to normal, Mica has an accident.

Sassy has done her course of prednisdone and is back to a healthy weight and behaving normally, for her!  I took all three cats to my Mom's for two weeks at Thanksgiving, and again at Christmas.  At Thanksgiving Mica and Jean-Claude were all over the place and adapted well.  Sassy never left the bedroom.  We lost Mica a few times because it turns out that she is an investigator.  Open a door and she has to check it out.  I found her several times locked up in the linen closet.  No one remembered when they opened the door last, but she just slept and never made a sound, even when I called for her repeatedly.  Brat.  We also had to pull the dryer out once because she ended up behind it somehow.  At Christmas Sassy would come out when it was just Mom and I at home.  She even jumped up on Mom's lap a couple of times.

Mica was up to her old tricks, ducking into closets.  Mom and I were getting ready to go look at some open houses, and she opened the hall closet to get her coat.  As she was closing the door I saw Mica dart in.  She opened it back up and Mica came charging out.  I looked down and saw some fur on the floor and asked Mom what it was.  She said she didn't know, and I said I though it looked like part of Mica's tail.  She said "No." and bent down to pick it up.  Then she screamed "It is!" and I went after Mica.  She never cried, and there was no blood, but she hid under the bed and I had to fish her out.   The skin had retracted and left the bone hanging out, so off we went to the Emergency Vet.  It had missed the bone, but because of the exposure they went ahead and took off several inches of her tail.  Stitches came out yesterday and she seems fine, just looking a little funny.  We will all get used to it soon.

Slow and lazy week and Mica

I decided to give my back a break and have been doing some cooking (Lasagna) and reading this week.  I did have to take some boxes to the post office, but I haven't been moving them all over the place here at home.  I do plan on spending some time in the shed tomorrow, figuring out a better layout for the shelves so that I can get to stuff even when the lawnmower is tucked away.
I haven't talked about Mica much, but she is a gorgeous tortoiseshell with some strange personality quirks.  She has a crackly Meow and has had since she was a baby.  She loves a cell phone and will come whenever I pull it out to talk or text.  She will get right up in my face.  She also loves the plastic caps off of my Mt. Dew and will suddenly appear when I open one up.  I try to hide them from her but she will fish them out of wherever I put them.  She  loves to play volleyball with little wads of paper that I trim off of my shipping labels.  She and Jean-Claude will bat them all over the place, but she will leap to bat them in air before they hit the ground.  She has a fluffy coat with an undercoat that her brother doesn't have.  Unfortunately, more hair means hairballs.  She does love to be brushed, but sometimes I think that just causes more shedding.

Eggs and Cats

I decided to add this picture of my two eggs, the one on the left from a friend who has chickens, and the one on the right an EGGLAND organic egg.   Look at the difference between those two yolks!  Guess where I will be getting my eggs from now on.

Here we have pictures of the same cat bed, at different times of the day.  There are two others, but this seems to be the overall favorite.

my Babies

This is how I found the kids when I got home today.
You can tell who's a little bit standoffish.

Pricing for a Yard Sale!

I did get about 6 BIG boxes of stuff priced and out to the shed this week.  I am storing the boxes of books in the front foyer and everything else out to the shed.  I picked up a Lenox vase/bowl in the Holiday holly pattern today for a$1 and I can't find it anywhere online so i don't know what to start it at.  I let Mica stay in the shot so you could see the size of it.  It has been raining/misting since last night so I have been working inside. Hope to get ahead of the game and have some auctions sheduled to go up throughout the week by Sunday night.

I had another massage this morning and am still very tight through the shoulders and back.  I haven't been icing like I should, because Ice is COLD.  Dang it.

SNACK TIME!

This is the snack time line-up. I shake the bag and yell SNACKS! They come running and line up on the bed. I make them stand up to take the tiny little things out of my hand. I say each of their names and the girls wait their turn, but him--NOT. He is always reaching up trying to knock it out of my hand.

Busy Boxing Books

Really. I have been very busy putting the books in plastic bags and packing them carefully into boxes and making sure the addresses are on the right boxes. I hate it when I send a box of books to the wrong person! Then I have to haul them out to the car one or two at a time and then haul them into the Post Office and hope there isn't a line. I think I hurt my back again. I am going to put one of the those menthol pain patches on it. I had one box of 19 Kenyon Dark Hunter books go for $152 and 4 ex-library D.E. Stevenson Mrs Tim books went for over $50. All in all it was a productive week. I need to keep it up, but I won't.

Howsomever, there is a big rummage sale this Friday-Saturday put on by the local C'dale churches and then the C'dale Library book sale on Saturday. More books, I betcha. I will certainly be scarfing up any Kenyon books I see. Or Horse stories. Or Mrs. Tim.

I had a good time at CVS on Sunday, and didn't even use any ECBS. I bought three gift bags at $1.49 each. They are a cvs brand Essence of Beauty product and the sale this month is buy 3 items get 5 ECB's. The RX essentials again, I had 2 $5 manufacturers coupons and a $5 cvs coupon for them that expired on Sunday. The special was buy one, get one free. They cost $14.99, minus my $15 in coupons. The Excederin is another special this week, $1.99 each with $2 manufacturers coupons floating around, and $1 ecb's each. With my $4 off of $20 purchase coupon, I paid less than a dollar and got back $8 in ECB's. So once again, they paid me $7.50 to take this stuff home. Do you see Mica in the upper corner, trying to eat some bag ties?

Menu Plan Monday

My menu doesn't vary much for Breakfast and Lunch. I usually have a bowl of steel-cut oatmeal with cinnamon and honey for breakfast, and for lunch I have a can of albacore tuna, a couple of sweet pickles cut up in it and 2 tablespoons of Miracle whip. I eat it on a pita or dip it with Triscuits. Both of these are eaten at work.

Dinner is usually small snacks through out the evening, not a big meal. I deviled 8 eggs yesterday, so they will be snacked on two at a time. I made a Chicken and madarin orange salad with walnuts and raisins and Poppy seed dressing. That will be three servings. I bought a bag of baby spinach, so the chicken salad will be tossed on top of those.

Monday- Chicken Salad early evening

Tuesday- Omaha Steak Hamburger, deviled eggs

Wednesday- Baked Potato with sour cream

Thursday- Chicken Salad

Friday- Eggs, fried potatoes, baked beans

Saturday- Stew in the Crockpot, which I will be freezing in serving sizes, lunch on Chicken salad, if there is any left.

Sunday- Ham and mashed potatoes

See what everyone else is eating this week by clicking on the banner above!

Mica gets selfish.

cvs part 2

CVS -Part 2

First let me say that this is my new treasure hunt fun. For the past 8 years I have been selling clothing and books on EBAY and thrift shops and yard sales have been my treasure hunts. However, I have so much current inventory that hasn't been listed that I can not justify buying anymore until I clear it out, sooooo, I needed something else to satisfy the scavenger in me. This is it.

ECB- Extra Care Bucks

When you sign up for your extra care card, you begin earning money on your first purchase. You get 2% of the total you spend at CVS back in ECB's quarterly. Since our goal is to spend as little as possible, this won't amount to much.

However, CVS also has Monthly and Weekly ECB deals. This month, when you buy a certain size of CVS vitamin C, a specific size of Colgate Total toothpaste or Lypsyl lip moisturizer, you get ECB coupons worth the same amount you paid for those items. Every month the deals change. They also have deals like buy $20 worth of Benefiber, get $10 ECBs. These print out at the bottom of your receipt when you have fulfilled the terms of the deal. It doesn't have to be in one transaction, but does have to be in the same week or month. The links I have posted above also list whatever manufacturers coupons have come out for these items that are not expired.

After you have been using your CVS card for a few weeks, CRT's or Coupon Register Tape coupons will start printing out for items you have bought previously. You can combine CVS Crt coupons and manufacturers coupons for the best deal. When you combine the ECB deals with double coupons and the money off coupons we talked about in part 1, the savings will amaze you. Next time I will line out the deals I will be working next week, so you will see how it all works.
